State Wide Goal: To improve access by the statewide Alaska Native Population to quality nursing care through development of accessible, culturally appropriate, and effective nursing internship opportunities at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC). |
How Do I Participate in the Internship Program? After completing your basic education either diploma, associates or bachelors degree in nursing, you need to apply for a position at Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). Once hired at the ANTHC or one of the rural tribal hospitals, you participate in the hospital orientation (See the ANTHC website for jobs and application process.). Following orientation you will join your unit. Your Nurse Manager will contact the Nursing Internship Program and register you for the next internship class. There are three classes per year. The classes usually begin in February, July, and October. For more information see the following pages. |
What is the Preceptor Course? A preceptor is a teacher or instructor in the clinical setting. We offer a two day preceptor course for experienced nurses and other disciplines who wish to train new interns and other staff during their orientations.
